The 2000s: The Worst Decade EVER!!

Hey. I know it's been a long while since I did this but I really need to say something! A lot of people thought that the year 2000 and beyond would bring peace, stabilty and togetherness to the world. That they would bring humanity to a higher plain! Well, that all turned out to be BULLCRAP!! The 2000s has brought us nothing but cynisim, anger, ignorance, insanity and cruelty! This decade(if you could call it that)brought out the absoulute worst in society! Particuarlly, AMERICAN society! Don't get me wrong, I still love this country and I hope one day it'll end up being what it promised to be. But what this country went through these past 9 years was a travisty! A COMPLETE AND UTTER TRAVISTY!! We had a president who had a nack for mispronouncing things and, after 30 days of election intrigue was HANDED the presidency by the courts. We had a corprate scandal that ruined people's lives and tarnished the name of a once powerful company. We saw TV shows featuring vapid, wannabe singers, has-been celebrities, a dence hollywood couple, famly members cursing at each other, bland, stupid rich kids, women dating "millionares" and a billionare with a catch phrase become big hits in the ratings. We've seen a disaster in a major US city that left people dead and stranded due to buracracy and slow responce by our goverment. We put instant gratifcation, mindless celebrity gossip, issues of weight, cell phones, ipods, texting, male enhancment pills, plastic surgery and shallow fashion ahead of being proud of who you are, doing the right thing, being kind to others and making a difference in the world as common traits in American life. We expireinced the worst economic meltdown in United States history, resulting in record unemployment, record forclosures and a record deficet growing larger and larger(which by the way, because of the recent Stock Market boom, the very people responsible for this mess are somehow being rewarded by being given bonuses). And what else? What am I forgetting? Oh, yes! We got into a war with a country that had absolutley nothing to do with the attacks of September 11th, failed to find what we were supposed to be looking for, sent dozens of our troops to be killed or seriously injured without proper protection or warning(and profiting from it), draining our nation of billions and billions of dollars putting us in serious debt and completley ruined our reputation and credibility throughout the world! Good times, huh? Oh, did I metion the complete altering of The Constution suspending all rights in this country as we know it? Just a thought.
You think after the horrible events on 9/11 people would be more focused on making things better for our country. That we'd be closer together as a people and as a society. That we would all be standing tall together. Young and old. Rich and poor. Black and white. Men and women. We were all the same. We were all Americans! But sadly that was not to be. As soon as this Iraq thing happened, people started to choose sides. That's when this gang mentality creeped in. And it spread through out the country like a cancer. If you don't agree with me, you're this. If you agree with him or her, you're that. Yelling. Screaming. Threatning. Degrating. Insulting. Humiliating. Denigrating. On and on. Over and over. It never ends! It never stops! As a society, this decade has made us more devided, more fearful, more self-centered, more cynical, more unwilling to listen to reason, less relaxed, less enjoyable, more insane, more self-absored, more whiny about things that aren't really that important, more driven to succeed, less driven to be happy, more interested in talking to machines than actual people, more into following the crowd than being your own person and less into being a civil decent human being. Yes, the 2000s brought out the worst in us but I fear this is just the beggining. So far things aren't going so well with the new guy in charge. And even though this is the last year of the decade, I feel the repacutions and the emotional anxiety of it will be felt throughout the next one. And God help us when the final match lights this already unstable powdercade called the United States of America!! So thanks, 2000s! Thank you for bringing this country down instead of up, backwards instead of forwards, to darkness instead of light! The first decade of the 21st century will not be remembered for bringing us into a new frontier, but for making the good 'ol USofA a sad empty shell of a country it once was! So thank you and farewell, 2000s. I feel very deeply you won't be missed! Good-bye and good riddance! See you all in 2010(I hope)!

I wholeheartedly agree. When it was the 1990s people thought that was the worst decade ever, but little did they know what would happen next. I won't miss the 00s. I really don't think Obama will live up to his potential, so the 10s will most likely be lousy too.
